DIY Spiced Salt - Christmas Gift

So, Christmas is a BIG deal in my family. Even when we didn't have a lot of money and times were harder, my Mum always made Christmas amazing for us. And she always made it great for everyone we knew, because she made the best DIY presents. Today I am sharing one with y'all.

She used to make massive batches of this every Christmas, she would give away jars to everyone we knew - and it was always so well received. When Rob and I were broke students eating mince and noodles, she would give us massive jars to make everything we cooked taste better. As long as I can remember there has been a large jar in her kitchen, and at some stage she got very clever and kept it in a grinder so it was in two different forms.

This spiced salt is fantastic on Chicken, Fish, Steak or Pork. It makes roast veges so savory and tasty. You can use it on the grill, in water for boiling potatoes or pasta, or in the oven if you are roasting or baking. It is just so good.

I am making it for the first time this year,  this is what I did:

Lol, the spices aisle in the supermarkets here is a lot scarier than at home. But after 10 minutes of pouting, two decisions to not make it after all, and one defiant last gasp, I found all these ingredients.
It actually isn't that hard - Im just not used to 15 different brands. Paralysis by choice as Steph puts it.

500 gm of rock or sea salt
1/3 C ground black peppercorns
1/3 C ground coriander seeds
2 T chopped bay leaves
1T ground cloves
1/4 C dried basil

Combine and store in an airtight jar - easy bro!

Combine!

Store in jars.

Here is a look at how mine turned out, I bought these wee jars from Michaels and  made little tops with a snowflake stamp.
